Batrep - Tau 5.0 v Space Marines.

Rules Used - Tau 5.0, Core rules with 2008 review.
Tau Army
The army is proxied Marine Army Setup Inital setup can be seen here. I will use left to right to describe formations. This is from the tau base line point of view

Turn One
Teleports - None
Initative - Tau
The Barracuda's attempt to go on CAP, but the shock at winning the initative means they are not ready and stand down!
The whirlwinds find the central tetras in range and launch before they can move and light up anyone. 2 are hit and one dies
Hammerhead(right) double forward to attach the scouts. Before the face the incoming missiles the scouts shoot on overwatch and kill one tank. The HH then infilct 3 AP hits that kill 3 scouts.
Thunderbolts 1 are then order to attack tetra(left), they fail to activate and stand down
The drone's double forward and cower in the wood line ready to head forward next turn.
Thunderbolts 2 are then ordered to do TB 1's job! They arrive, hit two tetras and kill one
Tetra (left) now call a co-ordinated fire wiht HH(left). The SC is required to get them moving. The tertas double forward poping up to shoot at the land speeders behind the hill. 1 is hit and killed. HH(left) then single forward and loose their guided missiles at the landspeeders. Hitting 3 and killing 2. The broken speeders fall back to the marine base line.Now, should this have been allowed or should the tetras poped back down after shooting?
The Tacticals double forward to hold an objective and fire at tetra(left) but fail to hit
Tetra (central) call a co-ordindated fire with HH(central) but fail to activate. They marshall and remove blast markers
Thunderhawk(empty) takes a long range pot shot at tetra (central) and kills one skimmer
HH(Central) singles and shoots at the tacticals. 4 AT hits kill 2 rhinos.
Thudnerhawk (full) flies in to air assault HH(left). No AA fire hits the thunderhawk and the assaul marines and devastors deploy to engage the skimmers. The marines kill 3 tanks for the loss of 2 assault marines. Going in at +4 the marines win and wipe out HH(left)I have later spotted that HH are armour 4+. I was using 5+ in this game for some reason
The AX-1-0 then fly in to hit the grounded TH (full), they hit twice but cause no damage.
The stingrays now sustain fire at the tacticals. 4 AP hits kill 3 and 3 AT hits kill one.
The scorpianfish sustain fires at the assault marines, killing one leaving the chaplain broken and he retreated futher into the buildings.
Tetras (right) marshall and remove all blast markers

Planes disengage
AX-1-0 leave with 0 BM
TBolt 2 one is shot down 2 BM

Turn Two

Teleport - Both Terminators arrive, either side of the scorpianfish and stingrays, near the Tau blitz. Both have 1 bm
Initative - SM
Terminator (left) engage the stingrays. They only kill one for no losses but lose the assault by two and break. There is just room to allow them not to be auto wiped out.
Terminator (right) sustain fire at the scoprianfish. 3 hits cause 1 point of damage.I did think about firing at the stingrays in crossfire. But thought that the terminators would win and be able to both have the blitz and still give crossfire
The scorpianfish sustain fires at the devs. 3 hits kill one marine
The wirhlwinds have reloaded and sustain fire at tetra (right) 4 hits kill 2 and break the tetras
HH(central) sustain fire at terminators (right). 10 hits only kill one unit!
Thunderbolts 1 ground attack tetras (left) cause 4 hits which kill 3. The broken tetras retreat back to the tau lines
The stingrays are set to sustain fire at the devs but fail and marshall to remove all blast markers
Thunderhawk (full) snipes at HH(central) but misses.
The drones are ordered to double but control is temporally lost, the SC regains control but they fail to hit the scouts.
The tactical formation single and shoot at tetra(central) but again miss
HH(right) marshall, shooting at the scouts. 3 hits kill 2 and all blast markers are removed.
The dev's sustain fire at tetra(central) but the lone hit fails to kill
The barracudas are again told to go no CAP but stand down
Thunderhawk (empty) is set to attack HH(left) but also stands down
Tetras(central) are told to sustain at the devs but fail to activate and remove blast markers.
Thunderbolt 2 attacks the drones. Surives the skyray AA fire but misses the drones.
The AX-1-0 the attacks terminators(right) killing one stand and breaking them

Teminator(left) single to contest the blitz and shoot at the stingrays for no hits
HH(central) single to shoot at the tacticals. 0 AP hits and 4 AT hits kill 2 more vehicles
The whirlwinds sustaing at tetra(cental) killing another skimmer
The Stingrays sustain at terminator(left) after a word from the SC. 2 hits kill another unit and the formation is broken and retreats from the blitz
The Dev's are order to shoot tetra(left) but even the urging of the SC can't convince them. They shoot anyway, killing one tetra and breaking them
The baracuda's finally arrive and hit the tacticals. 2 hits kill one more unit.
The scouts double and shoot at the drones, dropping one.
HH(right) single and shoot at the scouts. 4 AT and 3 AP hits kill two vehicles
Thunderbolts 1 stand down.
The drones double and shoot at the whirlwinds for the blast marker.
Thunderhawk(full) lands on SM blitz and shoots at the drones. 3 hits kill 2 breaking the formation.
Scorpianfish shoots at terminator(right) for 2 hits but no kills.
Terminators(right) are set to marshall, firing at the scorpianfish, but fail to acivate! They are now broken
The AX-1-0 moves in to attack the land speeders and wipes out the two remaining light vehicles.
Thunderhawk(empty) lands to pick up terminators(right). It flies through a hail of AA but lands savely. Its shot at the scorpianfish misses
Assault marines marshalls, moving to contest one objective and removes its blast marker

Thunderhawk(full) flies in to attack tetra(right) wiping them out
HH(central) single grabing one SM objective and shoot at the tacticals, wipint them out[Tau - BTS]
Thunderbolt two head in to attack HH(right) hitting twice and killing one
Stingrays sustain fire at the assault marine killing him
Whirlwinds sustain at HH(right), 2 hits kill one breaking the formation
The baracudas go on CAP
The dev's single to capture a tau objective and shoot at HH(central) for no hits
The drones doubled to capture the other marine objective [Tau - Take and hold]
Thunderhawk (empty) moves in to air assault HH(central). The barracudas cap but can't damage the warengine. Terminaotrs(right) add to the firefight. Round one drops two HH for now marine losses but the resolution is tied so round two is fought. This time 2 more tanks are killed again with no damage to the marines. The marines win this round by 7 and HH(central) is no more [Tau - Take and hold lost], [SM BTS]
Tetra(right) dobule and shoot at Terminator(right) for no hits
Scropianfish sustains at terminator(right) hitting once and killing the marine, breaking the formation
Finally the AX-1-0 fly in to attack Thunderhawk(empty) destroying the warengine with at fire before the MW is even used [Tau - Take and Hold]
